This Wednesday is the time when students from all over the nation take time to gather around their flagpoles to for one common purpose . . . prayer! This year’s theme is ‘Come Together’. While there are many things that can divide people, prayer should be something that brings us together.
I hope you’ll take advantage of this great opportunity to gather, unite, and pray with other Christians on your campus.
We’d love to see photos of your school’s event. In fact, we’re planning to put together a video for our service this Wednesday showing some of the happenings of See You at the Pole at various campuses. If you or someone you know could take some photos at your event … you can email them to us at syatp@refugenow.org or bring them on a disk or USB drive to Refuge before 6:00 p.m. and we’ll try to include them in the video.
I just felt like the Lord was laying upon my heart to bring encouragement to my fellow students and peers back in NC. I am approaching graduation in several months and some of you may be facing this same thing. Let me say this so many times I get bogged down with the worries of life and every thing sometimes just stops. Problems come from every direction and the older I get the more they seem to arise. Some of you may be dealing with relationship issues, family issues, spiritual issues, school issues etc. It seems as if there is no way out. It feels as if you can go no further. Let me encourage you with the words of Paul
Phillipians 3:12-13
12 I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. 13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it,[a] but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,
Dont continue to dwell on the past press on toward a bright future, focus on what lies ahead. I have not achevied what i am striving toward but I press on that I might run a good race and finish the course of life. and when i stumble i will press on, when you stumble turn your eyes to Jesus and run with perserverence and press on.
I will leave you with this blessing from Numbers 6:24-26
“May the Lord bless you and keep you, may He cause His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. May He turn His face to look upon you and give you peace.”

This weekend around 30 of us from Refuge spent Friday and Saturday at the NC Assemblies of God Youth Convention in Winston-Salem, NC.
The theme was “Sacrifice”. Speakers talked about sacrificing your life for the sake of Christ by choosing to live your life for Him rather than yourself. They also talked about making sacrifices in your life in order to give to others through ministries like Speed-the-Light Missions.
Sacrifice is not something most people jubilantly sign up for … yet God does call us to live a life of sacrifice.
What are you willing to sacrifice for the sake of Christ?
What does sacrifice mean to you? Post your thoughts!
Tell us your convention experiences and stories!
How did you do on the mechanical bull? What were the services like? How did God impact your life? How will you be different when you go home?

Last Wednesday our challenge at Refuge was to serve God by serving others. We looked at the Scripture in Matthew 10 that says that anyone who even offers a cold cup of water to someone will not lose his reward. We also read another verse in that same chapter that said that because we have freely received from God . . . we should freely give.
We closed our night by giving everyone a small bottle of water to take and use as a conversation starter with someone. To share your faith, invite someone to church, open a door to pray for someone, or to befriend someone.
We’d love to hear any stories from you about what happened with your water bottle and how you were able to encourage, witness, or pray for someone.
